Troubleshooting RS485 Communication with Actuators

Is anyone familiar with RS485 communication please? I have a table where I am trying to communicate with some actuators to query, extend and retract etc.

It seems pretty straight forward but my code doesnt seem to be working and I am wondering if it is my code or I am failing to interpret something correctly here.
