Look how rad this Lilygo T-Connect Pro is in a similar form factor to the Arduino Opta: https://lilygo.cc/products/t-connect-pro
Per this Hackster article: https://www.hackster.io/news/lilygo-goes-after-the-industrial-automators-with-the-din-mountable-t-connect-pro-9c4db04fb48e it comes with a relay output (I think just one), along with support for CAN, Ethernet, and more. It’s using an ESP32S2 module, giving it WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities AND has LORA support, which opens up all kinds of remote installation possibilities. Also it has a COLOR TOUCHSCREEN DISPLAY, and some other features too.
Anyway, it looks awesome, though I guess it has 1 relay (I think) instead of the Opta’s 4.
If I’m not mistaken, I don’t see Modbus support, but there’s RS-485 support on it. Adding a display is a great move- indeed, impressive features at this price point. It would be interesting to see where it goes from here
it has, modbus is the application layer, RS-485 is the physical layer. You run modbus on rs-485
