Pick an Embedded Programming Language: C? C++? Rust? Python?

It used to be if you were developing embedded systems, you were a C programmer. Boy, have things changed.

Arduino is a C++ environment, and Python is everywhere. More recently, the Rust programming language has grown in popularity to bring the total number of embedded programming languages to more than we can keep track of. If you have to invest time learning or keeping up with a language, which should it be?
